Introduction
By joining our SMS program provided by Makom, you agree to receive recurring text messages (notifications, updates, and reminders) on the number you provide, under these Terms that adhere to TCPA (2026) and CTIA Best Practices.

  1. Opt-In Consent

In accordance with the 2026 TCPA guidelines, your participation in our SMS service requires explicit one-to-one consent. This means that by opting in, you consent to receive messages from Makom only. Consent cannot be shared with other companies or third-party entities without your direct approval.

To join our SMS program, you may opt in through the following methods, in compliance with the 2026 CTIA Guidelines:

  • Web Form: Provide consent by checking a clearly labeled checkbox explicitly stating SMS program enrollment during the opt-in process.
  • Verbal Consent: Offer verbal consent by clearly agreeing to SMS participation after being read a compliant SMS consent disclosure.
  • In-Person Paper Form: Sign or complete a paper intake form that includes a dedicated section with clear language outlining SMS consent.
  • E-mail Opt-In: Provide consent by replying to an email or completing an electronically signed document that includes clear SMS consent language.

This privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”)  tells you  how Makom, a Maryland not-for-profit corporation located at 6101 Executive Boulevard, North Bethesda, MD 20852 (“Makom”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects and uses information collected through our website located at www.makomlife.org (the “Website”).  The Website enables visitors to the website (“Visitors”) to browse the website, without being required to provide us with personally identifiable information (“PII”) about you.  Visitors that choose to provide their PII to us through their use of the Website are “Users” under this policy.
